Wine and cheese at Fairview
Fairview Wine Estate is one of the Winelands’ most popular estates to visit for wine and cheese tastings, and it’s easy to see why. There are various kinds of wine tastings, all well-priced and a selection of fantastic cheeses to taste. There’s also a restaurant for breakfast and long wine-filled lunches. Wine tastings range from R25 for a standard tasting (six wines and a selection of cheeses) to R45 for a premium tasting (for groups up to 50) to R60 for a master tasting: a pairing of eight wines and cheese with olive oil and bread.
As a big fan of Fairview’s cheeses, I loved the cheese tasting, which costs R12 a person. I tried new cheeses of theirs that I’d never had before, like Crottin, Bleu en Blanc and Blue Tower, which were all delicious. Fairview is launching eight new cheeses this year – so watch out for them!
