New Viticulture Vineyard Tours at Creation Wines
Creation Wines invites you on a safari with a delightful difference: the opportunity to discover their little piece of paradise set on the picturesque Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge near Hermanus – on foot. “At Creation we really treasure the amazing biodiversity of our land and take pleasure in sharing it with our guests,” says Creation co-owner and marketing manager, Carolyn Martin. To achieve this, the innovative Creation team has devised an exciting 60 to 120 minute safari for visitors to experience the many charms of their farm.
Central to your safari are the vineyards and you will be treated to in-depth, professional descriptions of each of the varietals grown on the farm and used to such stunning effect in the cellar. To add to the pleasure, you will savour a glass of wine in amongst the very vineyards of origin.
But there’s much more to Creation than just their terrific wines. As registered members of the Biodiversity & Wine Initiative (BWI), they are committed to preserving their rich natural heritage by implementing long-term biodiversity as well as sustainability programmes. This immediately implies an emphasis on the Cape fynbos surrounding the carefully manicured vineyards. The wide variety of indigenous flora, from the iconic protea to the delicate confetti bush flower is a joy to behold. And populating the surrounds are a wide range of sought-after endemic bird species such as the proud African crowned eagle and the colourful orange breasted sunbird – a bird watcher’s delight!
The many other highlights include a stroll through the olive grove (for those who are fit), a meander along the scenic lake, a bird’s-eye view over the farm from the ‘koppie’ above the lake, plus the chance to admire the fascinating rock formations of Babylon Toren Mountain rising up in the background. To crown it all, your Creation Vineyard Safari culminates in a scrumptious lunch cum wine and food pairing under ‘The Big Tree’ among the vineyards. Heavenly? You bet!
