On Saturday we were overwhelmed by the number of people wanting to attend the annual Franschhoek Oesfees – double that of the previous year.

To those of you who attended, I extend our thanks for contributing to a very special event. I am sorry the queues at most food stalls were long for the best part of the day and appreciate the patience exercised by many of you.

To those of you who were not able to attend and/or were turned away at the gate, please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused you. Whilst the unexpected rush for tickets at the gate was naturally welcomed with open arms, we were very disappointed at having to make the call to close the gates. This decision was not taken lightly. It was shaped by the need to ensure the safety and comfort of those already inside, and taken together with the various security and safety officials on site.

Please be assured of our commitment to address the above, as well as every other aspect of the event we identify as needing improvement. To this end we have documented all feedback, positive and negative, received by email or through social media. We will include this in our planning for next year’s event – a process which begins on Thursday. We very much welcome your contribution to this process.
