A budding picnic season for all at Nederburg
Join Nederburg in celebrating sunnier days, with the start of the winery’s picnic season from October 1. Swop grey city buildings and long hours in the traffic for crisp country air, scrumptious food and award-winning wine matched by unspoiled views of the majestic Drakenstein Mountains.
After enjoying a complimentary glass of Nederburg’s refreshing sparkling wine on arrival, relax on the generous lawns surrounding the historic manor house and feast on the top nosh to be found in Nederburg’s Flavours of the Cape picnic baskets. These come brimming with freshly-baked bread, locally-produced cheeses, an assortment of crackers, preserves, cold meat, marinated kebabs, smoked Franchhoek salmon trout, pâté, couscous salad, a savoury tartlet, koeksisters, fudge and a cranberry and chocolate biscuit. There’s even mineral water. Nederburg wines are available for purchase to enjoy with your picnic. End off your lazy afternoon with some freshly brewed coffee or a cup of tea.
A vegetarian picnic option is available, and kiddies’ picnic baskets are also on offer. They include a home-made beef burger with creamy mayonnaise, fresh seasonal fruit, crisps, jelly sweets, yoghurt, fruit juice, a complimentary toy, and a glass of sparkling grape juice to join in the fun.
Flavours of the Cape picnic baskets, each serving one person, are available at a cost of R160 for regular and vegetarian options. Kiddies’ picnic baskets are priced at R70 each.
The picnic season at Nederburg runs seven days a week from October 2012 to April 2013. Please book your picnic basket two days in advance by contacting Sunette Rust on 021 862 3104 or on nedwines@distell.co.za.
