Francois van Coke rocks Backsberg


A decade or so ago, imagining Fofkofpolisiekar and Van Coke Kartel‘s hardened frontman sitting down and jamming at a picnic concert would have been a completely foreign concept.

But on Sunday afternoon, even the kiddies bouncing around on Backsberg Wine Estate‘s lawns seemed to enjoy Francois van Coke‘s more toned down version of himself and his music. Joined by Van Coke Kartel guitarist, Jedd Kossew, the two proved that a laid-back lawn version of songs like ‘Hemel of the Platteland’ and ‘Brand Suid-Afrika’ is a South African rock enthusiast’s best way to enjoy summer in the winelands.
