The Hunter and the Fisherman- a series of food collaborations
From either side of the Durbanville Wine Valley, two old friends Chef Ian Bergh from De Grendel and Chef Nic van Wyk of Diemersdal farm eatery connect in the kitchen for a new monthly ‘cook together’.
The first dinner in the new series is themed ‘The Hunter and the Fisherman’ to reflect their private passions. The first dinner takes place on Thursday 28 August at Diemersdal farm eatery. Nic is host chef, while Ian is the guest chef for the night, bringing along wine from De Grendel.
They have lots in common: they worked together at La Colombe in their early careers and they both believe the Durbanville region is a food hub ready to flourish. They both sport a beard of some sorts. They both love cooking and eating what they have harvested, caught, smoked or stuffed themselves –mullet, heirloom tomatoes, gourmet wors.
